Over the past 7 years I have been struggling with chronic knee issues, including two meniscectomy procedures in 2016 on the left knee to repair a tear.

The first procedure in April that year did not produce a good outcome, so I complained to the Surgeon and consequently went back again in October to go under the knife.

This seemed to work well for a few years, but then in 2022 my knee dramatically changed for the worse- further x-rays and MRI’s concluded considerable advancement of Osteoarthritis and I experienced dramatic changes and swelling- so much so it became unbearable to walk at times.

I’ve since been to two different Orthopaedic surgeon and both Surgeons recommended an Osteotomy- and eventually a knee replacement, with the latest MRI showing; Severe medial compartment osteoarthritis

Oftentimes I feel I miss out life with my 3 children as I’m not able to participate or play with them.

Further complicating my situation – is my profession is an executive chef; finding it hard to stand for extended periods of time or move to quickly in the kitchen.

To be off work 5-6 months recovering from a major knee operation is something that I simply couldn’t do, and could jeopardize my role and financial health.

That is when I started looking at alternative options.

A few years earlier while receiving acupuncture from a Croatian lady trained in Chinese Medicine she mentioned exploring Stem Cell Therapy.

Remembering that conversation, I started researching the therapy over several weeks. The more I read the more I was convinced that this was the avenue I should be looking at.

It didn’t take long for me to have Dr Hassan Mubark to come under my radar. His website was compelling, his reviews were impressive.

After some email exchanges and a free consultation over the phone with my wife and I, we decided to go ahead with the procedure. What I liked about Dr Hassan, was that he was giving me no guarantees but would do his very best to help me.

Fast forward a few weeks later, my stem cells were harvested on 21st May 2024 then sent to the lab for expanding.

My First implantation happened on Monday the 2nd July 2024. The process was very quick and with minimal discomfort. I was home that afternoon and rested up.

The following day (Tuesday) my knee had swollen quite a lot and was painful- however Hassan reassured that this was normal. On Wednesday morning the swelling was gone- and I noticed a huge improvement when I walked quickly down the stairs to go to the bathroom with very little discomfort.

On Friday I was back at work, and completed a 12-hour day on my feet, feeling the “best it’s been in years” was the txt message I sent to Dr Hassan.

I’ve since had the 2nd implantation in November and It’s now been 9 months since the first implantation as of now April 2025.

As it stands I can say without a doubt that this was probably the best money spent I’ve ever spent in my life.

9 months ago I couldn’t lift a single kilo plate on the leg extension machine at my gym due to discomfort, strength and agility. Now I’m pushing the ¾ of the stack, squatting 110 kilos, and leg pressing 220 kilos for 10 reps.

My agility has improved immensely, now I can do a yoga squat (Malasana pose) and hold for 20 seconds- previously this would unbearable and could not do.

I’m still not confident to run, but I have busted out a few jogs when playing football with my kids.

My walking is relatively pain free also- although not 100% it’s still much, much better.

I did have a period in November when my knee was painful, but that was due to pushing myself at work over the busy period. As assured my Dr Hassan if I rested and re applied the brace, my condition would improve and the stem cells would continue to do their work- and they did, and still do!

So I know this is long winded, but I wanted to make sure my story is authentic, is heard and is believable. If in doing so I help someone else go to Hassan, instead of leaping into surgery then my time spent writing this is justified.

My only regret is that I didn’t find Hassan in 2016 before I started my surgical journey, but I’ll take this win now- and hope that others may be inspired by my story

I’m also pragmatic about this, and I know in time I will need to look at considering a knee replacement, but for now I’m very happy at how my life is BIG thanks to Hassan Murbark!!

I’m hopeful and cautiously optimistic about my future and look forward to many years of health and agility- 12 months ago I could have never imagined feeling and thinking this way.

I have osteoarthritis in my ankle since 2021, which was painful and I lost the joint mobility which prevented me from doing a lot of activities. I had stem cell treatment on both my knees on the 7/02/2024. The process was well documented and explained by Dr Mubark, him and his staff were extremely professional and the appointments and the process went like clockwork, very unusual for a medical visit in NZ. Since the treatment by previously arthritic knees have improved to the stage where I have very little pain, none at night. I can walk for several hours and regular walk 18 holes on the golf course without pain. I have had hardly any ibuprofen since the procedure. After 6 weeks of being in constant pain and many sleepless nights, I was eventually referred to Dr Hassan Mubark, as no one could figure out why my shoulder was still frozen. In Oct October 2020 after a phone consultation with Dr Mubark, l opted to have stem cell therapy on both knees as the arthritis was becoming intolerable. Dr Mubark and his team at Ormiston Hospital were very helpful and thoughtful. I injured my achilles tendon playing touch rugby approx 20 years ago. Over the years I have had many physio treatments and done all the strengthening exercises, but the injury kept recurring. Prior to my injury I was a very fit and healthy 55 year old woman. I was in preparation for my first strong woman competition and lifted weights and hiked in the hills regularly.
In July 2021 was admitted to hospital with a severe infection in my knee. I would have 4 surgeries during my initial hospital stay , and a 5th about 3 months later. All the surgeons involved were not overly optimistic about my future. They indicated at best I would get 90 degree movement in my knee. On the negative side, occasionally my left knee joint has a stuck feeling and causes me to slow down or limp. This is often short lived these days, and during my walk if I slow down for a bit it seems to righten itself in the same walk. No swelling. Just seems to resolve itself. I am told this will most likely improve as of course I am still healing.
I am also taking the supplement NMN, (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) and my energy levels are amazing. I am fit and healthy and bouncing around feeling 10 years younger. Quite remarkable.
Medicine is progressive and stem cell therapy is a massive shift from what is currently offered to the general public. This novel treatment will be the norm hopefully in the not too distant future and offered to a wider spectrum of patients who currently are offered surgical intervention only.

I injured my hip area in September 2022 and was in a lot of pain and tried rest, physio, and ant-inflammatory medication but without any improvement. On the 2nd of December 2022 I had an ultrasound that showed inflammation of the hip bursa and gluteal tendon tear with calcification. I avoided cortisone injections as I was looking for healing rather than masking the symptoms. Given I had remarkable success with the PRP injection for my right elbow in 2019 under Dr. Hassan Mubark, I decided to have an experimental plasma injection into the hip area in March 2023. After a period of 6 weeks post the procedure, I was pain-free with normal function in the hip area. Yesterday, the 25th of May 2023 after an ultrasound at SRG I received the best news ever – 10 weeks after the procedure the ultrasound at SRG revealed no inflammation of the bursa, and the gluteal tendon tear has healed but the calcification remained. Three months ago I had the stem cell therapy transfer done by Dr Mubark. He told me he was going to do his best to give me the best chance I could have with the procedure. That he certainly did and within a relatively short time I was noticing changes with my mobility, which had been restricted in my knee due to osteoarthritis. I am now successfully able to get down on the floor to do tasks, walking up and down steps is easier and I am able to go on longer walks at a better pace. From my own experience, I would recommend that, if people have the means, they look into stem cell treatment if they have joint pain and stiffness. I have ankle arthritis and three chronically torn ligaments which together caused me pain and made it hard to walk for more than 30 or 40 minutes at a time. After stem cell treatment around 6 months ago with Dr Mubarak, I have found that the pain and stiffness has decreased significantly. I am naturally quite a sceptical person and I wasn’t expecting such success. It took me time to notice that I wasn’t so sore after walking and wasn’t putting ice on my ankle or using ibuprofen gel. I wasn’t taking the stairs one at a time in the mornings while my ankle ‘warmed up’ and I wasn’t hanging my foot out of the bed to avoid the weight of the duvet on the joint. My ankle still has some pain, still looks swollen and I know that arthritis can’t be cured but, in my case the pain symptoms of the arthritis are much improved.
