Prior to my injury I was a very fit and healthy 55 year old woman. I was in preparation for my first strong woman competition and lifted weights and hiked in the hills regularly.
In July 2021 was admitted to hospital with a severe infection in my knee. I would have 4 surgeries during my initial hospital stay , and a 5th about 3 months later. All the surgeons involved were not overly optimistic about my future. They indicated at best I would get 90 degree movement in my knee. Through determination and a lot of rehab with my Movement therapists I managed to get my knee flexion above 105 degrees, however I was still left with significant discomfort, a swollen appearance, and a lack of mind muscle connection with that whole leg. I was on a medical marijuana prescription to help manage daily life.
A follow up in December 2022 with a surgeon diagnosed me with Severe Tricompartmental osteoarthritis. They basically said that a knee replacement was my only option but even that wasn’t available for another 7 years due to the risk associated with my previous septic arthritis. It was this diagnosis that led me to start researching about alternative options. I found Dr Mubark via a google search and reached out to him via email on a Friday of a long weekend. I was incredibly surprised that he contacted me back within 24 hours and basically insisted on a Sunday video call consult. It was from this point that I realised Hassan had a true passion for his work and a genuine enthusiasm to help people who have been let down by more traditional public health practices. All along the process my questions have been answered promptly, and often late at night. I’ve felt listened to and respected every step of the way.
Fast forward to now, 10 weeks Post stem cell treatment and I’m blown away by the progress. My knee looks and feels better. I am not on any pain relief at all for the past 10 weeks. The glossy swollen appearance has gone. The most important thing for me is that I now feel connected to my leg again. My mobility and leg stability continues to improve every week. The best results are expected between 3 and 6 months so I’m excited to see how much further I can progress. Hassan continues to take interest in my progress and its clear to see he really believes in Stem Cell therapy, and cares about his patients.
